This policy explains what information Spokane Horse Properties collects when you use spokanehorseproperties.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose. If anything here is unclear, ask us at contact@spokanehorseproperties.com or (509) 724-3184.
Who we are
Spokane Horse Properties is an advertising website and directory for horse property in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho, online since 2012. We are not a real estate brokerage and we do not represent buyers or sellers. Property owners and licensed brokers advertise their listings with us, and buyers contact them directly.
In this policy, “we,” “us” and “our” mean Spokane Horse Properties. “You” means anyone who visits the site, sends an inquiry, or opens an advertiser account.
Information you give us
When you send an inquiry or message
Our listing inquiry form, contact form and newsletter signup ask for your name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message. If you ask about a listing, we also record which listing it was.
When you open an advertiser account
- Your name, email address, phone number and password (we store passwords only in scrambled, “hashed” form and cannot read them).
- Whether you are a licensed agent/broker or a private owner, and for brokers, your brokerage name and any details you add to your profile (photo, bio, website, service area).
- Your listings: addresses, descriptions, prices, photos and other property details. Listings and the contact details you choose to show on them are public; that is the point of advertising.
- A record of your purchases: the package, amount, date, and the order or transaction number from PayPal or Square.
Payments
Payments are handled entirely by PayPal or Square on their own secure pages. We never see or store your full card number, bank details or PayPal password. We receive confirmation that you paid, the amount, and a transaction reference, and PayPal may share the name and email on your PayPal account. Their use of your information is covered by the PayPal Privacy Statement and the Square Privacy Notice.
Information collected automatically
- Server and security logs. Like nearly every website, our web server records your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time. Our security firewall (Wordfence) also uses IP addresses and browser details to block attacks, spam and repeated failed logins. These logs are kept for a limited time and used only to run and protect the site.
- Spam protection on forms. When you submit a form we briefly record your IP address to limit repeat submissions, and we check messages for signs of spam.
- Saved listings. When you tap the heart on a listing, the list is stored only in your own browser (local storage). It is not sent to us and is not linked to you.
- Cookies. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you log in, WordPress sets cookies that keep you signed in and remember basic screen settings; they are removed when you log out or after they expire (two days, or two weeks if you choose “Remember me”).
- No analytics or ad networks. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook pixels or similar tracking tools, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
Services that load content on our pages
A few outside services deliver parts of the page directly to your browser, so they receive your IP address and basic browser information when you visit:
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces the site uses (Google Privacy Policy).
- OpenStreetMap draws the location map on listings that have one (OpenStreetMap Privacy Policy).
- Links to Facebook, a broker’s website, a virtual tour or Google Maps directions take you to those sites, where their own policies apply.
How we use information
- To deliver your inquiry to the right person and to answer you.
- To run advertiser accounts: publishing your listings, processing purchases, sending receipts, renewal reminders and account notices.
- To send our newsletter if you signed up for it. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, or just tell us.
- To keep the site secure, prevent spam and fraud, and fix problems.
- To keep business and tax records and meet legal obligations.
We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share it only as follows:
- Listing advertisers. When you send an inquiry about a listing, your name, email, phone and message go to the agent, broker or owner who placed that listing so they can respond. They are independent of us and handle your information under their own practices. Messages we cannot route to an advertiser come to us, and we may pass them to the listing broker or owner so they can help you.
- Payment processors. PayPal and Square, to take payments.
- Service providers that help us run the site, such as our web host, email delivery and security services, only as needed to provide their service.
- Legal reasons. If required by law, subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or us.
- Business transfer. If Spokane Horse Properties is sold or merged, the information would transfer to the new owner under this policy.
How long we keep information
- Inquiries and messages: as long as they are useful for answering you and following up, after which we archive or delete them. Messages identified as spam are archived and removed from day-to-day view.
- Advertiser accounts and listings: while your account is open. Listings are taken down automatically when your package ends; you can ask us to delete your account and listings at any time.
- Payment records: at least seven years, because tax law requires it.
- Security logs: a limited period, typically a few weeks to a few months.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct information that is wrong;
- delete your information (we may keep what the law requires, such as payment records);
- stop sending you newsletters or other marketing email.
Email contact@spokanehorseproperties.com or call (509) 724-3184. We will confirm the request comes from you (usually by replying from the email address we have on file) and respond within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for making a request. Advertisers can also update their contact details and listings any time from their account.
Because we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, there is nothing to opt out of, and we treat browser privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control as a request not to do so.
Security
The whole site uses encrypted HTTPS connections. We use a security firewall, keep software up to date, limit administrator access, and never handle card numbers ourselves. No website can be perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password for your advertiser account. If we learn of a security breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
Children
This site is for adults buying, selling and advertising property. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. For significant changes, we will also notify advertisers by email.
